Labor of Love Awardee

Ashley Paynter | Seattle, WA

Ashley Paynter started a grassroots organization called Decolonizing Science which produces a podcast to educate the public on the history of racism in the medical field and research. She is also in the process of obtaining her Ph.D. in the field of biological sciences.

The goal of Decolonizing Science is to bridge the gap between activism and science by educating underprivileged communities and everyday people. The topics she seeks to shed light on are environmental racism, health disparities, and discrimination in the medical and research fields.
