Job Summary
Shoreline welcomes faculty with a vision of excellence in instruction and an ability to employ various formats and styles in support of successful student learning. Shoreline seeks faculty who can adapt to a variety of teaching situations and who have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding.
Washington State's Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) model pairs two instructors - a specialist teaching specific job skills and a Basic Skills instructor to address learning strategies and basic skills needed to succeed in the job training. Opportunities are available to teach math contextualized for trades as part of Shoreline's I-BEST Manufacturing Program. Math topics range from basic math and use of measurement tools to algebra, geometry and trigonometry. In addition to teaching, this position may involve developing programs and curricula and other campus-related professional activities.
AFT Washington is a state federation affiliated with the 1.6 million American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO. We represent about 6,500 members including faculty from the community and technical colleges and pre-K through 12 classified employees. We also jointly represent professors at Eastern, Central, and Western Washington universities and The Evergreen College with the Washington Education Association.
