DESCRIPTION:
The Chemistry department is part of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) division at Edmonds Community College. We prepare students for transfer degrees in the sciences and engineering as well for admission to nursing and other health science programs.
Edmonds College, founded in 1967, is a public, two-year, coeducational state community college which each year welcomes some 11,500 academic and vocational students, including approximately 1,200 international students who come here from as many as 79 countries. The college is located in the center of the growing south Snohomish County communities of Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Mill Creek, and Woodway. Situated in Washington State's Puget Sound region, the College is just north of Seattle and a short distance from the scenic beauty and recreation of the San Juan Islands, British Columbia, and the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges.
AFT Washington is a state federation affiliated with the 1.6 million American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO. We represent about 6,500 members including faculty from the community and technical colleges and pre-K through 12 classified employees. We also jointly represent professors at Eastern, Central, and Western Washington universities and The Evergreen College with the Washington Education Association. The mission of AFT Washington is to voice the ideals of our locals and members for workplace fairness and social justice while strengthening and focusing their collective power to attain those ideals.
