MLK Labor Endorses Debora Juarez for Seattle City Council
Juarez has been steadfast allies to working families during her time in public service
(SEATTLE) — MLK Labor delegates, which are composed of several hundred rank-and-file union members and leaders, voted Wednesday night to endorse Debora Juarez in District 5 for the Seattle City Council.
This follows endorsements earlier in the year for Andrew Lewis (D4) and Emily Myers (D7). MLK Labor will be considering endorsements in all districts throughout the election cycle.
The following statement was issued by MLK Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Nicole Grant:
“Debora Juarez earned Labor’s endorsement because of her steadfast support of working families during her time in public office. She has been a leader on bringing good jobs to Seattle and expanding labor rights. Debora Juarez is a friend to Seattle’s workers”
Debora Juarez had the following statement on the MLK Labor endorsement:
“Growing up in a union family and being a union member shaped my values and core beliefs that guide my work at the Seattle City Council, including crafting some of the strongest labor harmony agreements our city has ever seen for the $1.3 billion KeyArena renovation and the $712 million Waterfront LID project, as well as laying the foundation for a new union apprenticeship program in north Seattle. Thank you, MLK Labor, for partnering with me on these projects; I am ecstatic to have your endorsement!”
