MLK Labor Endorses Lisa Herbold

MLK Labor Endorses Lisa Herbold for Seattle City Council

Herbold has consistently stood side-by-side with Seattle’s working families

(SEATTLE) — MLK Labor delegates, which are composed of several hundred rank-and-file union members and leaders, have voted to endorse Lisa Herbold in District 1 for the Seattle City Council.

This follows endorsements earlier in the year for Andrew Lewis (D7), Debora Juarez (D5), and Emily Myers (D4). MLK Labor will be considering endorsements in all districts throughout the election cycle.

MLK Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Nicole Grant had the following statement on Lisa Herbold:

“Lisa Herbold has stood side-by-side with Seattle’s working families and has earned labor’s endorsement. Lisa fought for and won increased funding to enforce labor laws, was a leader on passing the Secure Scheduling Ordinance, and helped secure funding for pre-apprenticeships that train our future labor force. We’re excited to talk to union members in District 1 about why we need to re-elect Lisa Herbold.”

Lisa Herbold had the following statement on the MLK Labor endorsement:

“I’m so grateful to have the endorsement of MLK Labor, the region’s advocates for workers and the issues important to them and their families since 1888.

Seattle is only as strong and resilient to income inequality as our labor movement is strong and resilient. I’m proud to stand with solidarity with MLK Labor to oppose those who question a union’s collective bargaining rights or a worker’s right to join a union.  Together we will strengthen our workers’ movement and make more resilient our city as a whole.”
