Political Action
The Council’s Committee on Political Education (COPE) provides a political and legislative action program. The Council encourages local, state and federal government officials to address issues in a way that is beneficial to working people. It is the role of the Council to be a forceful advocate for labor’s issues as a people’s lobbyist. Components of our program include targeting key races, endorsements, volunteer recruitment, voter registration and grass roots lobbying.
The Council has a large number of both congressional and legislative districts located within its jurisdiction. The Council is also involved in county, city, school board and port elections.
