Resolution in Support of Weekly Friday Rallies at the Federal Building in support of Federal Workers, their contracts and Union

WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Council recognizes the invaluable contributions of federal workers who serve the nation with dedication, integrity, and excellence;
WHEREAS, federal workers face numerous challenges, including budget constraints, staffing shortages, and policies that impact their ability to serve the public effectively;
WHEREAS, recent actions taken by Elon Musk and the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have included indiscriminate and illegal firings, layoffs, and job eliminations across various federal agencies;
WHEREAS, these actions have caused significant harm to federal workers, undermining their job security, morale, and ability to provide essential services to the public;
WHEREAS, it is essential to support the rights of federal workers to organize, negotiate, and advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect in the workplace;
WHEREAS, the federal workers union plays a critical role in representing the interests of federal workers, ensuring their voices are heard, and fighting for their rights and welfare;
WHEREAS, public demonstrations are a powerful means of raising awareness, generating public support, and pressuring policymakers to address the concerns of federal workers;
WHEREAS, the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Council is committed to supporting the rights of all workers and stands in solidarity with the federal workers union in their efforts to achieve justice, fairness, and equality in the workplace;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Council condemns the recent actions taken by Elon Musk and DOGE that have resulted in indiscriminate and illegal firings, layoffs, and job eliminations;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Council endorses and supports the weekly Friday rallies at the Federal Building as a means to show solidarity with federal workers and their union;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Council encourages its members and affiliates to participate in these rallies and to actively promote the cause of federal workers’ rights and well-being;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Council will continue to advocate for policies and initiatives that support federal workers and their union, ensuring they, their representatives, and their contract are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
